Well, after a long much needed Saturday of avoiding shopping/lunch/and more shopping invites from friends, I managed one coffee break, and completely cleaned my house in the anticipation that I would be flying to California sometime before Sunday night, to accompany my husband home on his road trip across country.I received a call from Shel-my sweet hubby, stating that the flight (compliments of a fellow racer friends frequent flier miles), would actually be at 7pm Saturday night., it was now 4:10pm.
Ugh, I am not a fly by the seat of your pants flier anymore, since 1992 BC (before children) I am a slow packer, slower planner when it comes to my two children, 1 dog, and two cats...so needless to say I was in a panic. Managed to dry my hair slightly and pack ( a duffle bag of sweats, socks and undies - and two books if the conversation in 37hrs of road trip madness took a turn for the quiet )Knock at the door, accomplice #1., my friend Stephanie, who had been on me all day to "stop cleaning, lets go to Ikea, lets go to lunch, lets go have a drink, I will get you to the airport in plenty of time"...She is ready to roll, kids are taken care of, and all I have to do is be at the Emabassy Suites to meet our mutual racer friend and pick up the freq flier certificate. We made it through the saturday night mall traffic across Speedway Blvd, pull into the suites and I am up the elevator to the 11th (yes Honors Suites) floor., I am thinking "wow Tony (our racer friend) has connections, they stay in the nice rooms."
Before I could text a note to relay this information to Steph who is waiting down at the drop off zone, I knocked on the door to room 1119...and the door flies open..to my husband with roses and champagne. ! (Mr Accomlice #2,)I screamed - of course my heart was beating 110 mph, thinking dang I am in such a hurry, hope Tony and his wife Shannon arent in a chatty mood, --- and there is my husband grinning ear to ear, saying 'surprise'...My friends and wonderful hubby had planned since THURSDAY morning, his return drive home and a weekend surprise for me...so alot of texting/talking and planning on their part - and I was stunned.
We had a wonderful night, no kids, no phones, and met up with Tony & Shannon at our church, went to breakfast and met the kids who were at Cracker Barrell with Stephanie and Blake(accomplice #3 and wonderful extra husband when needed) . What a great group of friends, and Ashton Kutcher couldnt have punked me any better. :)

Krafty Kim

I think I was meant to be a pre-school teacher...or maybe I was in a previous Ben Franklin era...I am addicted to the whole craft project, and like my other OCD behavior jump in mouth first, and unsteady hands later. I managed in the last 16 years, cross-stitched (and won awards) painted, done the old country store themed house, painted and worked my way through 10 years of ceramics, made Spud McKenzie dogs for my dad's co-workers at GM pool table rooms, made hook rugs, tried to learn to knit, and weaved pot holders. I made trivets in Junior Achievement, my own wood frames, and painted anything that didn't stand still. Lawn ornaments, birthday party favors, pots for plants, my toes...etc..
So, you wonder where could I have imagined myself at the ripe old age of 40+ ..designing water bottles for my little niece's 7yr old cheer team, whoo let the crafty wars begin.
I have a closet filled (call it closet addiction) of over 100 various magazines, for cutting into pieces for my decopage art..but I am so stingy with my clippings I hardly ever glue them into the projects, I had good intentions to use my modpodge glue and create frames, prayer journals, more cermaic pots, glue glue glue..but I instead have a very nice collection of words/flowers/design inspirations in a gorgeous victoria secret pink box. I sit endlessly (yes you wonder when I have time) and clip clip clip my way into infinity.
